After a rocket attack in her native Bakhmut, 2-year-old Liza cannot walk. On October 17, the evening before the evacuation, the girl was having dinner in the kitchen with her mom and dad. There were already packed things in the hallway – they had finally decided to leave their hometown. Sudden explosions. All three of them fall to the floor. Debris is flying into furniture, walls, and people. No
one survives. All three are wounded by mines – Lisa, mother and father.

Pavel is being operated on in Konstantinovka – debris is being removed from his body. Inna and Lisa in serious condition are being taken to Dnipro. The two-year-old child has a fracture in the lower back, both bones of the right shin, wounds to the right shoulder, head and back. The doctors are faced with the main task of saving his life and stabilizing his condition. As soon as this can be done, the family is transferred to the National Rehabilitation Center "Unbroken" of the First Medical Association in Lviv.

Little Lisa is being prepared for surgery. Because of the fragment in her lower back, the child cannot feel her legs, and the killer metal must be removed urgently. The extra-heavy surgical procedure is going well. Physical therapists and occupational therapists continue to fight for the girl's every move and step so far. It takes at least a year for Liga to recover.

Her mother has multiple multifracture segmental fracture of both bones of the left forearm with displacement and a craniocerebral injury. After working for a long time, her motor functions resumed. Already in Lviv, the family learned that they had nowhere to go back to, after more shelling, only walls remained of their home in Bakhmut. Today Pavel and Inna continue to undergo psychological rehabilitation and dream of one thing – to get their Lisa back on her feet.

During the war, St. Nicholas Children's Hospital* in Lviv became a place of salvation for hundreds of young Ukrainians affected by the war. Children like Sofiyka are transported there by evacuation trains and ambulances. Here, every doctor, nurse and worker does everything they can to save children who suffered from military aggression. The number of patients has almost tripled. And modern medical equipment is needed to provide high-quality care.

Now the surgeons of the children's hospital face a difficult challenge – the waiting lists of children who need surgery. Surgeons are forced to operate at night to save all the children – often during constant blackouts and air raid alarms. Every day in St. Nicholas Hospital, 5-7 small patients need operations. And the anesthesia machine, which is necessary for surgical, neurosurgical, and cardiac
interventions, is a must for long-term anesthesia.

Today, the hospital has one such device, but at least 3 are needed. This will allow doctors to quickly and simultaneously perform even more surgeries and children will not have to wait and lose precious time.

Anesthesia machine ensures high accuracy control of the vital functions of the body during operations and creates the necessary level of safety for the patient. The cost of one device is UAH 2.2 million. This will help to save 7 little patients every day, and more than 2 thousand children a year at St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv.
