Me and it: How to survive cancer?
"When you hear a diagnosis with the prefix cancer, it is as if you are forcibly packed in heavy armor, handed a spear and pushed in the back, pointing to the mills looming ahead. And although they do not say, you understand that you will have to fight these mills to the end, you will not be able to jump off, brush off, deceive fate and dodge them. You are scared, you do not know how to do all this, but what to do - you need to learn and quickly, otherwise you will get in the head more than once, and there are falls after which you cannot rise. here you are so getting along with this role, and you are praised for your courage, but you did not ask for it, and it would be better if you were not an example of perseverance and resilience, but you cannot take off your armor, and this war with the mills turns into groundhog day ", - journalist Yana Sedova wrote in her blog.
Groundhog Day for Yana has been going on for 11 years now, since the first diagnosis of breast cancer was made. Over the years of treatment, she received all the protocols available in Ukraine: several cycles of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and antihormonal and targeted therapy.
Unfortunately, each new treatment protocol, which according to the doctors' calculations should have coped well with the disease, worked for a very short time. Today Yana has metastases in the liver, lymph nodes and bones, she often suffers from pain. But she lives in this "armor" and does not stop either her struggle with the "mills" or her professional activity.
She is a journalist with many years of experience. This year, she launched her own project on oncology on hromadske “Me and it: how to survive oncology”, in which, together with other patients, activists and specialists, she shares her experience in the treatment of oncological diseases and offers the audience clear recommendations - what to do when I learned about oncology diagnosis, how cope with depression and learn to act constructively, how not to miss cancer and what tests to get.
In September, the second season of the Me and It: How to Survive Cancer podcasts kicks off, and Yana believes she will have the strength to continue helping other patients find solutions to overcome cancer.
Let us and we support Yana and help raise money for the expensive Oncodeep test to give her a chance for treatment that will stop the progression of her disease.
The test will allow doctors to select an individual non-standard therapy, taking into account the unique biology of the tumor and the characteristics of the woman's body. The chance is high, because modern medicine has learned to treat even advanced stages of cancer.
