The Government has approved a draft National Strategy for Promoting Civil Society Development in Ukraine for 2021-2026.
The strategy was developed by the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with the participation of members of the public.
The strategy defines clear strategic tasks for the authorities in order to create favorable conditions for the development of NGOs, charitable foundations, bodies of self-organization of the population. The strategy has yet to be signed by the president. The next step will be to develop and approve a government action plan to implement it.
We expect that the implementation of the new National Strategy for Promoting the Development of Civil Society after approval by the President of Ukraine will allow:
- strengthen the capacity of civil society institutions;
- increase the level of public participation in decision-making at all levels;
- to expand the contribution of civil society institutions to socio-economic life;
- to disseminate useful practices of intersectoral cooperation.
The draft of the new Strategy was developed by a working group, the work of which was monitored by the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers. The working group included representatives of the executive authorities, the President's Office, and civil society institutions. Irina Gutsal, director of the dobro.ua platform and the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace ICF, was also involved in working on the draft of the new strategy.
