A chance for the future: Ivan's story

Ivan is 12 years old, and until last year, he and his mother did not even know he had a serious health problem. In 2023, during a medical examination, the boy was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect - an open arterial duct. Ivan was registered at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery in Kyiv.

A year later, at a repeat examination, the diagnosis was confirmed, but, unfortunately, the size of the injury had increased. Doctors stressed that the problem needed to be solved surgically.

Ivan's mother is raising him on her own. The cost of the implant, which is 47 thousand hryvnias, was unaffordable for the family.

On 25 December 2024, Ivan underwent endovascular surgery.
The occluder for the operation was purchased with the support of REJURAN.
