On February 08, 2024, Artem Barabash, born in 2022, underwent surgery.
Artem was born in September 2022 in Kyiv. During the examination in the hospital, the doctors heard a murmur in the boy's heart and sent him for additional examination, during which a diagnosis of congenital heart disease "Perimembranous ventricular septal defect" was made. The doctors informed him about the need for surgery immediately. But Artem was born with a low weight, only 2560 grams. Therefore, doctors gave the child time to grow up and get stronger.
Now the boy is almost 1.5 years old, he has grown and gained weight. The parents went to the hospital again. The doctors at the Amosov Institute informed them that the child needs surgical correction in the near future, because one of the heart chambers has already begun to enlarge.
Artem's family does not have enough money to save up for an occluder for their son's endovascular surgery on their own. Since the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, only his father has been working in the family, while his mother is on maternity leave to care for the child.
Artem needed help to have a healthy heart.
Thanks to the benefactors who supported the campaign of Elvira Hasanova and Yevhenia Tkachenko, on February 8, 2024, Artem Barabash underwent a heart implant surgery worth 119,947 UAH. The help was invaluable for the family and will allow the boy to have a better quality of life!
