UDSO
Ukrainian Down Syndrome Charity Organization was established in 2003 by parents of children with Down syndrome, and is a member of European Down Syndrome Association. The organization unites around 1,000 Ukrainian families raising children with Down syndrome. The Fund operates in the following directions:
1. Direct work with children/youth with DS and their parents: in 2009, the organization opened the Center for Early Development. Each month around 100 children from birth to 8 years old attend classes with specialists. The project "Youth Club" and the project "Supported Employment" operate for teenagers and young adults. There is also a school project "Perspective 21.3" for students with Down syndrome and other developmental features.
2. Supporting specialists (employees of Inclusive Resource Centers, kindergarten workers, school teachers, social workers and other specialists who work with children with DS) – holding seminars, webinars, international conferences in order to share experience and support specialists in their work. Also, the development of programs, training materials (manuals, textbooks, workbooks for children with special educational needs).
3. Conducting information campaigns, charity events and tournaments, active work with mass media; organization of cultural and sports projects.
4. Collaboration with specialized ministries and departments, state and international organizations.
