Sheiter for people with disabilities
Cherkasy region is considered to be one of the quietest regions, where there is no active shelling, so more than 100 thousand refugees came here seeking protection from the war, in particular, more than 85 thousand stopped in Cherkasy. It was a great challenge for our city. Finding refugee housing has become a real challenge. Schools, kindergartens, sanatoriums and other institutions were converted into a temporary housing. People put up with the difficulties and treated the conditions with understanding, but these conditions only increased the suffering of people with disabilities, people of respectable age and children with special needs.
Organized and equipped with the funds of the project "Shelter for people with disabilities" in the Rehabilitation Center in Cherkasy helped to solve problems for people with disabilities, people of respectable age, children with various special needs.
The project was equipped with 3 rooms with a total area of 100 square meters. m., and a bathroom. Purchased 10 beds, 10 chairs, a lift for people with disabilities, a mirror, hangers, cleaning equipment and provided food for horses that were engaged in hippotherapy for children with disabilities at the Rehabilitation Center. The Shelter is equipped with ramps, meets all accessibility standards for less mobile groups, has two hygienic rooms with bathroom and kitchen, comfortable furniture, a cozy hall and a flower garden with a garden where you can relax.
268 people used the Shelter's services. Most of them are families with children with disabilities and injured people from different cities of Ukraine, who are under fire and fighting. During their stay they are provided with food, clothes, wheelchairs, crutches and walkers and psychologist services.
Currently, the Shelter is actively working, expanding the provision of services, including massage, hippotherapy. Internally displaced persons who previously lived in Shelter and moved to rented accommodation, try to help our organization, plant flowers, trees, hold various events with young people living in a home for people with disabilities, on the ground floor of which is a Shelter for people with disabilities.
