News July 2025

Nikita finished third grade. He enjoyed studying, especially mathematics, drawing, and physical education. He easily finds common ground with people and adores animals.

His diabetes mellitus ‘debuted’ in early June 2023. At that time, an ambulance took the child to intensive care. His blood glucose level was 32.3 mmol/l, which is extremely dangerous. Nikita spent two days in intensive care, then he was transferred to the endocrinology department, where he was started on insulin preparations – Novorapid and Levemir.

At first, Nikita received six insulin injections a day. But in August 2024, thanks to the help of kind people and the efforts of a journalist, the family was able to purchase an insulin pump.

Two months earlier, Nikita had started using sensors, which made it much easier to control his blood sugar. Previously, he had to prick his fingers up to twenty times a day, but now five times is enough.

Sensors and a pump help him live without the constant threat of ‘sugar spikes’ and complications with his blood vessels, heart, kidneys, and vision. Unfortunately, the sensor only works for 14 days and is expensive.

Nikita needs 24 FreeStyle Libre 2 sensors per year. Their total cost is unaffordable for the family. Our support means the child's health, his ability to learn, play, rejoice and dream!
