Camp Initiative ‘New Dawn’
The New Breath Initiative programme covers the entire territory of Ukraine, except for the occupied territories. For the needs of the programme, a hotline was organised, through which a social worker provided advice and information about the programme. When a person acknowledged the need for psychological support, the social worker referred them to a psychologist. After two online consultations, the psychologist determined whether the family needed to be referred to a psychoeducational camp.
In this way, 103 families from all over Ukraine (most of them from the frontline regions) were recruited to undergo psychological recovery at the New Breath camp in the village of Strelky (Lviv region).
The ‘New Dawn’ Initiative project was placed on the dobro.ua platform of the CO ICF ‘UBB’ to raise funds for the organisation and conduct of the camp for a total amount of UAH 257,769.00 (two hundred fifty-seven thousand seven hundred and sixty-nine UAH 00 kopecks). Since funds were raised from other fundraising companies, the collection was stopped and the amount was reduced to the actual amount of UAH 6537.00 (six thousand three hundred and fifty-seven UAH 00 kopecks) according to the letter dated 02.09.2024 No. 136. The funds raised on the dobro.ua platform were used to pay for the participation of Ulyana Bilozerova, an IDP from Kramatorsk, in a camp held on 7-13 October 2024 in the village of Strelki, Lviv region. Her mother Kateryna shares her success story about her participation in the camp.
Kateryna Bilozerova:
‘The main goal of attending the camp was to reduce anxiety and stress, to let go of circumstances a little bit, to remove unnecessary thoughts from my head, to look at everything from a different perspective.
Now I am calmer, I listen to my feelings, and I like them. A separate bonus was meeting very nice people and like-minded people.
