Ten years ago, her life was saved by strangers on dobro.ua.

Ten years ago, her life was saved by strangers on dobro.ua.

Today, she is passing on this kindness.

When Nastya Berestenko was six years old, doctors lost hope. The only one in ten thousand chance of saving her life was an experimental procedure: a bone marrow transplant — and an unrealistic sum of €300,000. Then something happened that is the very reason dobro.ua exists: thousands of people came together. Some donated large sums, some put their cars up for sale, some didn't go on vacation, some gave up their wedding anniversary celebrations, and some donated a few hryvnias. Together, they did more than they could have done alone.

Nastya survived.

Today she is 16. She studies, works in a café, meets with friends, and lives the same ordinary life that once became possible thanks to the support of caring people.

And every year on her birthday, she doesn't ask for gifts.

Today, she passes on the kindness. This time, Nastya is supporting her peer, Volodya Kolyasa, who, after a complex spinal surgery, needs help to pay for the titanium structures that literally keep him on his feet. For the family, this is more than 100,000 UAH — an amount that cannot be covered on their own.

Nastya knows well what it's like when your future depends on the support of strangers.

Once, the dobro.ua platform became her chance. Today, we can become Volodya's chance.

The best birthday gift for Nastya is to support her campaign to help Volodya.
