Helping children's intensive care units: Kyivstar allocates UAH 15 million for medical equipment

Within the framework of the Children's Hope project, the mobile operator, together with the charity platform dobro.ua, is initiating a new area of assistance - support for children's intensive care units. Kyivstar allocates UAH 15 million for the purchase of modern medical equipment for the intensive care units of the UNBROKEN Center at the First Medical Unit in Lviv. The company calls on its subscribers to join this important charity initiative.

Every day, the smallest patients are fighting for their lives in the pediatric intensive care units. It is not hours but minutes, sometimes even seconds, that count. During a full-scale war, the burden on the medical system has increased, and the importance of intensive care units has become even more critical, as it is here that children who have suffered from the fighting or cannot wait for help for a minute are saved.

"For almost 7 years now, the Children's Hope initiative has been helping to save children's lives all over Ukraine. Together with our reliable partners, today we are launching a new direction - support for children's intensive care units, which is a logical continuation and an urgent response to the challenges of the times. That's why Kyivstar continues to support the Unbroken Center and invests UAH 15 million in equipment that will save children. We thank our subscribers who prove every day that together we can do more. Together we give hope that the stories will continue," commented Oleksandr Komarov, Kyivstar CEO.

Currently, St. Nicholas Hospital, a member of the UNBROKEN Center ecosystem, has three children's intensive care units: pediatric, neonatal and cardiac. In 2024, more than 1000 children's lives were saved here. The fourth one, a neuroresuscitation unit, will soon start functioning. The units are located in different buildings, so it is technically impossible to move equipment between them.

"Every day in our intensive care units is a struggle for children's lives. And we must be technically equipped to meet these challenges. The support from Kyivstar and dobro.ua will allow us to provide the department with the necessary equipment that will help doctors act instantly without wasting precious time. This is an investment in the future of our country, in the children whom we together give a chance for life," comments Oleh Samchuk, CEO of the First Medical Association of Lviv.

The allocated funds will be used to purchase vital equipment for children's intensive care units that will help doctors quickly diagnose a child's condition, monitor body parameters, perform emergency procedures and save lives even in the most difficult cases. In particular, it includes a modern system for ultrasound diagnostics, a mobile X-ray machine, special open resuscitation systems for newborns, a powerful monitor with a nerve conduction assessment function, a central monitoring station, electrocardiographs, medical trolleys for quick access to instruments, and laryngoscopic equipment for breathing.

"We believe that every child deserves a chance to live, regardless of the difficulties they face. In partnership with Kyivstar, we are launching a new direction within the Children's Hope project - support for children's intensive care units. This is a vital step that will provide doctors with modern equipment and save the youngest patients. We are grateful to everyone who joins this initiative - together we save lives," comments Iryna Hutsal, director of the dobro.ua charity platform.

Currently, the initiative is raising funds for a bronchoscope, an important equipment for quick diagnostics in infants.Every Kyivstar prepaid subscriber can join the initiative: just send an SMS to 450028 with the amount of the donation, set up a regular charity subscription or make a contribution on the dobro.ua platform at the link. Even a few hryvnias every month is a real support for the important work of doctors and a chance for life for every child.

Together we help difficult children's stories to have a happy ending.
