The first month of spring is behind us, and it was full of big projects. Together with our partners, we rebranded Children's Hope, opened a burn unit at the St. Nicholas Children's Hospital, and launched new fundraising initiatives - we are already preparing to greet the elderly on Easter and run the Lviv Half Marathon to support the young patients of the UNBROKEN Center - we will tell you about this very soon, and in this spring newsletter we tell stories about strong people who are not afraid to change the world and move forward despite difficulties.
The project ‘Children's hope: help to the Odessa regional hospital. Cardiac surgery 4’, dobro.ua.
At the end of January, we handed over modern sterilization containers to the Cardiovascular Surgery Department as part of the Children's Hope charity program we implement together with Kyivstar. The new equipment will allow the team of doctors to organize the sterilization process more efficiently and reduce the risk of postoperative complications. This means better and safer treatment for more than 150 young patients who need surgery at the unit every year.
The total amount of charitable assistance provided to the hospital is UAH 349,763.
The project ‘Rehabilitation of Kum’, Gromadyanyn Charity Foundation.
During a combat mission in Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, Mykola was seriously wounded by a drone strike and lost both legs - a high amputation. The extremely difficult path of physical and emotional recovery begins. But from the first day of rehabilitation, Mykola is confident that he will be able to use prostheses and return to active life. During the rehabilitation course, Mykola undergoes more than 100 hours of individual sessions with a physical therapist, occupational therapist and neuropsychologist. Most importantly, he is regaining his strength, endurance and faith in his own body.
Adaptation to life at home and the next stages of rehabilitation and prosthetics are ahead. He is confidently moving forward, joking and inspiring others. We believe his dream of starting a family will come true.
The project ‘To save the lives of children’, CF ‘SVICHADO’.
Thanks to the support of our partners, 4Friends and the Svichado Charitable Foundation, the Kyiv Regional Perinatal Center is receiving two modern Rad-97 pulse oximeters. This critical equipment allows to monitor the level of oxygen in the blood of preterm babies and allows doctors to respond to threats in time and save the lives of newborns from the very first minutes.
The total cost of the equipment is UAH 167,990.
The project ‘The "EVA" centre needs help. Part 2’, CF ‘Foundation of direct help’.
In almost two years (March 2023 - January 2025), we have raised UAH 531,753 for the rehabilitation of children with disabilities at the Eva Center for Inclusion and Correction. During this period, 14 courses were held for 280 children, helping them to improve their health, acquire new skills and become more confident. We pay the salaries of specialists, partially cover the cost of renting the premises and purchase daily hygiene products.
The project ‘Envelop the defenders with warmth’, CF ‘Caritas Berdychiv UGCC’.
In winter, when the cold chills to the bone, a simple thing like a trench candle becomes a real treasure. It is something that can warm your hands, heat your food, and light up the darkness. And sometimes it can even help you survive. 2000 trench candles are being made by volunteers within the project “Wrap the defenders in warmth” by Caritas Berdychiv UGCC during December 2024 - February 2025.
30 thousand hryvnias for the necessary materials were raised thanks to benefactors on dobro.ua. The candles have been delivered to our defenders in the Pokrovsk, Sloviansk and Zaporizhzhia directions. Humanitarian Nova Poshta is delivering them.
