Alyona: survive until spring comes

My name is Alyona. I am 11 years old and I am studying at 6th school class. I am at home education. I have a huge wish to go to the school, because in this case I would have friends. I would like my wish to come true, but for this, I have to defeat a serious disease, which is called “cystic fibrosis”. There is one medicine which could help me. It is named “Pulmozym”. However, this drug is very expensive and we are not able to buy it. Therefore, I would like to ask all kind people to support this Project and gather some money for this medicine for me.

My father says me: “Don’t worry, sure, you will have friends”. I don’t have special hobby, but I adore painting, music, reading good books and journals, as well to make handicrafts. Generally, my lifestyle is quite calm, because there is no other way: I can’t run and jump as well to make fast movements... You can’t image how I want to run, to fill the full lungs with air and don’t have a cough, but easily breathe out! My dream is about this. Additionally, when I will grow up, I would like to travel to different countries, to fly by airplane, to jump by parachute and to make many other interesting things.

Now I feel myself not very good, but this is not a reason for enervating. I have a lot of obligations, and one of them is watching over my health: to make inhalations and various exercises, as well to help my body to defeat the disease. There are a lot of medicines that help me with this. One of them is “Pulmozym”. This is very expensive drug, but it helps very well to such children as me – children with cystic fibrosis. When we called to Russia to ask about Pulmozym, we received the answer that this drug is given to children free of charge in their country. Why we are not able to get this medicine in Ukraine? You can’t even image how easily children could breathe with it! I am happy that we found a Charity Foundation “Open Palms”, which agreed to help us with Pulmozym (and not only). It’s a huge pleasure to know that somebody takes care of you besides parents!

One thing - to ill and feel yourself as a human-being, to lead a normal life (of course, in those measures that your body allows), but another thing – when you are lying in the bed and thinking about pain relief... Please, believe me, I know what I am writing about.
