English language for children in children’s homes

In May 2024, the project “English Language for Children in Family-Type Children’s Homes” was published on the UBB International Charity Foundation – dobro.ua platform. The goal of the project was to raise funds to pay for English courses and to purchase tablets for children being raised in family-type children’s homes.

The initial fundraising target was 140,490.00 UAH. At the end of May 2024, a decision was made to reduce the target amount to 40,500.00 UAH, keeping only the funding of English language courses as the project’s objective, since an opportunity arose to obtain financing for the purchase of tablets from other sources.

Despite certain challenges, the fundraising was successfully completed in February 2025. With the addition of the foundation’s own funds, on February 27, 2025, we paid for English language courses for ten children in the total amount of 58,000.00 UAH, of which 40,500.00 UAH were charitable donations received from UBB ICF.

Before the start of the course, the children completed placement tests, based on which they were divided into two learning groups according to their level of knowledge. The classes were held online, made possible thanks to the tablets previously provided. The course lasted from early March to the end of September 2025.

The implementation of this project gave the children the opportunity to receive high-quality English instruction, increase their motivation to learn, and experience their own progress. The participants became more confident in communication, expanded their vocabulary, and improved their reading and comprehension skills.

The children and their foster parents express their sincere gratitude for this opportunity. The course not only helped improve their English knowledge but also became a powerful incentive for further learning and development.
