Artem was born in 2017. The birth went smoothly, and during the first months of his life, the boy developed like other children.
At 9 months, Artem had his first seizure. The seizures recurred, and after a complete examination, doctors made a difficult diagnosis: Dandy-Walker syndrome, structural epilepsy, and a posterior cranial fossa cyst. Since then, the boy has been on constant anticonvulsant therapy.
Due to his underlying condition, Artem's development has been very difficult. He did not walk until he was three years old. It was only through regular rehabilitation, massage, and therapeutic physical training that the boy was able to take his first independent steps. The child was registered as disabled at 2.5 years of age.
Today, Artem needs constant comprehensive rehabilitation: sessions with a speech therapist, a special education teacher, sensory integration, physical therapy, and therapeutic massage. Two courses per year are not enough – to maintain and develop his skills, the sessions must be regular.
Artem's mother takes care of her son and is unable to work. The father, a military serviceman, is the sole breadwinner of the family. It is difficult for the family to cover the costs of treatment and rehabilitation on their own.
The parents' biggest dream is for Artem to learn to speak, understand spoken language, and master basic self-care skills. This will significantly improve his quality of life and give him more independence.
Despite all the difficulties, Artem is a bright and cheerful child. The family is asking for help to provide him with the necessary rehabilitation and give him a chance at a full childhood.
