Life-saving surgery for Artem

On September 10, 2025, the project “Artemchik needs skull plastic surgery” was posted on the platform of the International Charitable Foundation ‘UBB’ dobro.ua for a total amount of UAH 277,865.00 for the treatment of Artem Saychuk at the National Children's Specialized Hospital “OKHMATDIT.” The goal of the project was to raise funds for a boy with a complex diagnosis: “Craniosynostosis. Scafocephaly. Left frontal plagiocephaly.”

This condition threatened Artemchik's life. On January 29, 2026, doctors performed a complex neurosurgical procedure on Artem using special consumables: reconstructive cranioplasty (elimination of plagiocephaly) using biodegradable materials.

During the operation, specialized consumables were used that were necessary for reconstructive cranioplasty and subsequent stabilization of the baby's condition:

RESORB-X ST. MAGDEBURG plate - used to fix bone fragments during skull reconstruction. The holes in the plate ensure secure attachment to the bone.
RESORB-X straight plate - a longer straight plate is used to close and stabilize large areas of bone defects. The holes allow it to be fixed at several points for even load distribution.
RESORB-X plate, 1.0 mm, 11x126 mm - a thin and long plate used to restore bone shape in complex areas. It is flexible and allows adaptation to the anatomy of the child's skull.
SONICPINS RX 1.6x5 mm screw - these are special biodegradable “screws” used to attach plates to bone tissue. Over time, they dissolve in the body and do not require repeat surgery for removal.
Spiral drill bit 1.0x50x5 mm (striker) for SONICWELD - the drill bit is used to prepare holes in the bone before fixing plates and screws. This ensures accuracy and reliability of fastening.

These consumables are critical for performing the complex neurosurgical operation that saved Artemchik's life.

Artemchik is currently in the inpatient ward with his mother under constant medical supervision; the child's condition is being monitored by specialists, and he is undergoing postoperative recovery in accordance with medical prescriptions until his condition stabilizes and he recovers.
