Without a Single Puncture

Every year, the St. Nicholas Hospital, a branch of the Lviv City 1st Territorial Medical Association, admits between 1,700 and 2,300 newborns, a significant number of whom require special medical care from the very first hours of life. During the full-scale war, the problem of premature births has become even more acute due to chronic stress, forced displacement, and disruptions in nutrition and prenatal care. Premature infants are particularly vulnerable because their organs and nervous systems are not yet fully developed, so even physiological jaundice can pose a serious threat to them.
The St. Nicholas Hospital is one of the key medical facilities in Western Ukraine, where newborns—particularly premature infants and infants with jaundice—receive specialized neonatal care. The BiliCare™ transcutaneous bilirubinometer is a state-of-the-art diagnostic device for non-invasive measurement of bilirubin levels without blood draws, painful punctures, or long waits for lab results. Using this device will make it possible to painlessly monitor approximately 1,500 children with jaundice each year, promptly prescribe phototherapy for 250–300 infants, reduce the risk of severe hyperbilirubinemia, and ensure a safe start in life for the most vulnerable patients.
Fundraising for the “No Needles” project began on March 4, 2026, on the dobro.ua platform of the UBB International Charitable Foundation, with a target of 215,700.00 UAH (two hundred fifteen thousand seven hundred hryvnias 00 kopecks). 
An advance payment for the purchase of this equipment was processed on April 1, 2026, in the amount of 107,849.85 UAH (one hundred seven thousand eight hundred forty-nine hryvnias 85 kopecks). The remaining balance was paid on April 16, 2026, in the amount of 107,849.85 UAH (one hundred seven thousand eight hundred forty-nine hryvnias and 85 kopecks). As of April 7, 2026, the equipment was transferred to the Municipal Non-Profit Enterprise “1st Territorial Medical Association of Lviv.”
The balance of unused funds for the “Not a Single Puncture” project is 0.30 hryvnias (0 hryvnias 30 kopecks).
