The "Dream to live" Charitable Foundation, based at the "World of Opportunities" inclusive center in Kyiv, provides free daytime care services for children with disabilities in subgroup A, which includes children with cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, and other developmental disorders. As part of this free social service, they receive supervision, support, socialization, and a safe environment where they can spend time away from home, while their parents get a break. However, due to regular power outages, the center needs an additional battery to maintain heat and continue providing daily care. If the center is cold, it becomes impossible to provide day care for children with disabilities.
Currently, 16 children receive day care services at the center, with 8 families visiting the center daily and 15 families visiting during the month.
Families stay at the center from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Throughout the day, children are involved in a structured schedule of activities that meets their age and individual needs, including:
- morning circle and emotional tuning,
- music activities, art therapy, and fairy tale therapy,
- sensory, play, and social activities,
- development of self-care skills,
- relaxation practices and calm activities,
- walks and closing circles with reflection on the day.
All this allows children to develop social skills, feel stability and security, and parents to receive the necessary support and respite.
However, in the context of war and constant power outages, the center faces a serious challenge: how to keep the premises warm so that children can stay there without risk to their health. For children in subgroup A, hypothermia can lead to deterioration of physical condition, exacerbation of symptoms, and adaptation breakdowns.
Currently, the center has a charging station and several batteries, but their capacity is insufficient to fully heat the premises during prolonged power outages. Employees are forced to limit the use of heaters or reduce the time children spend at the center.
This project aims to purchase an additional battery that will maintain a stable temperature, ensure the continuous operation of day care, and guarantee safe and dignified conditions for children even without electricity.
By supporting this project, you are not just helping to purchase equipment – you are helping to preserve the warmth of care that children with disabilities need every day.
