Friends, this project is an opportunity to help an adult, a formerly active, hardworking and capable guy. Alexey Shimko always helped others, and now he needs your help. His life changed in seconds after a terrible traffic accident when he was hit by a car. Miraculously, he survived but was left with very serious injuries. Alexey did not give up because he needs to live for the sake of his wife and little son. Today his life is scheduled by the minute with hemodialysis procedures and physical rehabilitation, for which there is no money left at all.

Alexey has already undergone many surgical interventions and painful procedures. Unfortunately, his spinal cord is damaged and he cannot feel the lower limbs. To date, his condition is stable but requires regular hemodialysis procedures since the kidneys are not functioning. He also needs constant medical supervision, medication, dressings and rehabilitation sessions. Rehabilitation classes for Alexey help his muscles health and condition. They must be constantly in a good shape. Unfortunately, this is difficult for people in wheelchairs to achieve.

Alexey fell into the wonderful and caring hands of Sergey Kalayda - rehabilitologist from MOTUS rehabilitation center in Odessa, Ukraine. Sergey understands Alexey’s situation, motivates and makes him go forward. They work effectively in tandem.

Also, Alexei is supported and encouraged to stay afloat by his little son who needs father. Psychologically, Alexei is also very badly affected: no matter how strong a person is, the accident he has experienced breaks not only physically but also phycologically.

We apply to all of you for help. Please, help us raise money to pay for the next stage of rehabilitation classes for Alexey. These are 144 individual sessions in the physical therapy room. For Alexey, these are 144 steps that must be overcome in order to become stronger and more enduring.
