Be healthy as before the accident!

Slava is 16 years old, he is a good guy, kind and very friendly, he always protected the weakest at school, was interested in equipment, went into sports and was the right hand at home. However, his life changed in no time. A horrible thing happened on 01.10.2021 – he got in an accident – he crashed at a concrete pole while riding his bike. From the scene of an accident the child was delivered to the emergency department of the district hospital unconscious in extremely hard condition. On 02.10.2021, a team of emergency physicians accompanied him to the intensive care unit of Odesa region children’s hospital.

The guy had fractures of the thoracic spine, contusion of brain and spinal cord, open traumatic brain injury, multiple bruises and haematomas… He was in coma, could not breathe by himself, was unavailable for contact. Mother cried and prayed for her son to stay alive.

Only on the sixth day after the horrible accident, Slava recovered from coma and on the twelfth day he was transferred to the neurosurgical unit. During his time at hospital, the boy’s condition got stable, consciousness and speech recovered. But, unfortunately, the sensitivity and moves lover of the injury area were absent, namely, down thoracic section. On 10 November, Slava was delivered to Kyiv to Romodanov Neurosurgery Institute, where on 15 November he underwent a hard surgery in two stages. A metal construction was placed to his spine to fix and remove the deformation of five vertebrae of thoracic spine.

For the further treatment and recovery of sensitivity and moves he requires rehabilitation. By the recommendation of doctors, it must be started as soon as possible in order not to lose achieved results. The guy has all chances for recovery, but the family has no more funds. All savings were spent to save the son’s life and the rehabilitation treatment is extremely expensive for a regular country family. We ask you to help us gather the needed sum and give the boy a chance to become healthy again!
