Will the baby be able to live? 2

Yurko suffers from almost extremely low weight – this is how his inborn disease of cystic fibrosis affects his body. Food absorption is complicated, every meal should be accompanied by a whole handful of pills that help digestion, but this is not enough. Last year, we raised money together and paid for Yurko a half-year supply of special high-calorie food – and this helped. The boy gained about 4 kg in weight, had more strength to survive the fall and winter with their frequent colds and outbreaks of infectious diseases. A year has passed and Yurko needs help again to survive the next winter. 

Cystic fibrosis affects the whole body, little Yurko was not lucky enough to have a very severe form of the disease. The liver is also severely affected and it creates a high risk of liver cirrhosis in the future. In order to slow down the destructive processes as much as possible, the boy was prescribed supportive medication for the liver in fairly high dosage. It entails a large sum of money per month only for this single medication, and no break or dose reduction can be made.

Yurko’s family makes a lot of efforts to preserve his health maximally, but it is impossible to cope with such a serious illness on his own. Especially since the family lives in a small village in Transcarpathia region, where it is extremely difficult to find such large sums of money that are necessary for Jurko's treatment. Now his mom is asking for our help to get the boy to school, pay for a supply of
special food for the next six months – until spring – and a supply of medicines to support the liver.
