About 1,000 newborns with many life-threatening diseases are treated annually in the four neonatal units of the OKHMATDYT National Specialized Hospital with a total bed capacity of 90 beds. These include congenital malformations requiring emergency surgery, children with extremely low birth weight (less than 1,000 g) who have been treated in the hospital for more than 2-3 months, premature babies requiring neurosurgery (such care is provided only at OKHMATDYT), and other categories of patients.
To cure and nurse these children, the team of medical professionals needs the highest quality equipment. This equipment includes ultrasound machines that provide timely and continuous diagnostics and are equipped with appropriate sensors.
The neonatal unit has one high-end ultrasound machine. It was purchased by Monobank's benefactors, who donate their cashback to Courage's charitable projects on a monthly basis. This means that they help preterm and newborn babies from all over Ukraine, including the little patients of the OKHMATDYT National Children's Hospital.
But there was a great need to buy another sensor for this ultrasound machine, which could help in diagnosing and checking medical procedures, namely vascular catheterization in the smallest patients. Using this sensor will reduce complications during catheterization to 0%.
That is why the doctors appealed to all concerned to help raise funds for the purchase of much-needed medical equipment that can save lives and will serve for 10-12 years. This is a long-term investment that will help thousands of children.
The money was raised thanks to contributions from caring benefactors as part of the dobro.ua Moneybox "Helping Children's Hospitals in Time of War" and through contributions from Monobank users who donated their cashback to the Courage project. This is how we managed to transfer such an important expert-class ultrasound sensor to the hospital through joint efforts.
Thank you!
