To breathe for her son’s sake. Stage 3
Olena was diagnosed with a cystic fibrosis when she was 4 years old. Childhood of the girl took place in hospitals, treatment always required a lot of money, parents worked at several jobs to enable the daughter to resist the disease. Today Olena is a mother of a wonderful and a perfectly healthy boy. But her own treatment needs more and more spending, cystic fibrosis is a lifelong disease without any weekends and the family is simply unable to manage with it by themselves.
Today this beautiful lady is quite happy in her motherhood. She makes a lot of efforts so that her little boy could grow as an intelligent, healthy and cognizant person. But the mother can effectively spend her time with her little boy only in periods when the disease recedes, when medication is taken on time and when hospital treatment passes on time.
Cough, runny nose, a lot of expectoration which cannot be coughed out of lung usual way – these are the symptoms Olena lived with all her life. She helps herself with special daily exercises, but without the drugs that are to be taken all the time, the disease is literally strangling our girl.
"I didn’t want to realize that I am sick, I just wanted to live like everyone else, but it was impossible. After one of the treatment courses the doctor said that I could die. And then I started to understand what cystic fibrosis is, I realized that everything is too serious and the treatment is literally vital "- Olena says. Later she found out that she is pregnant. Olena gave a birth to her son Ivanko who is a perfectly healthy baby. This year Olena is preparing her son to kindergarten, they are even studying English.
"Now I have a difficult condition, but I really want to fight for myself, I want to see how my son grows up, I want to be with my son at the most important moments of his life. I want to lead my son to the kindergarten and later to the first grade."
