Dima: turn on the sound

Fourteen years old Dima has a bilateral sensorineural hearing loss of the 4th degree. This means that without hearing aids, the boy does not distinguish words, and the world around him turns into a chaotic set of sounds and constant noise. Dima will help high-frequency digital hearing aids. If do not install them now, the boy will forget how to speak. Then it will be possible to forget about studying at school and communicating with others. 

Dima was born a healthy child, there were no complications and health problems. But at the age of five, the boy caught a bad cold, had pneumonia, and then began complications of hearing loss. "When we were discharged from the hospital, it seemed to me that my son does not react at all to the sounds", recalls Elena, Dima's mother. "But the doctors assured that everything is in order, that the child’s ears are simply buried. Soon everything will be fine. But it happened otherwise. At 6 years old, doctors diagnosed Dima with double-sided chronic cochleoneuritis, hearing loss of 3 degrees in both ears".

After the diagnosis was established, parents bought hearing aids for Dima, began to take his son to classes with a speech therapist and a pathologist. And over time, the boy formed a phrasal speech, he went to school. At the last consultation by the audiologist, it turned out that the boy’s hearing became worse – the second-third degree bilateral hearing loss developed into the fourth degree, and the old hearing aids were already weak for such a degree of hearing loss and came to malfunction. Doctors advise them to install new, more powerful hearing aids as soon as possible. However, with hearing loss 4 degrees, hearing aids are not given out for free, and Dima's mother is not able to buy them. She brings up two sons. With her husband, Dima's dad, no longer lives, divorced.

Without hearing aids, a boy once completely loses the ability to perceive sounds, will be in complete silence. "There is no one to help us", Elena admits. "What will happen to Dima now? How will he go to school now? How to change his condition, mood? I am even afraid to imagine... We have one hope for the participation of good people".
