Children's hope: help to Dnipropetrovsk ODKL. Cardio

In November 2018, Kyivstar, together with the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, launched the project "Children's Hope" to help children with heart and cancer diseases in Ukrainian hospitals.

In September 2020, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Children's Clinical Hospital of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council will receive assistance under the Cardiology project.

Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Hospital is a center for providing specialized medical care to children of Dnipropetrovsk region (population of about 550 thousand children), including patients with cardiorheumatological pathology, namely: the hospital has a cardiorheumatological department with 30 beds.

The prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in children of Dnipropetrovsk region in recent years has increased significantly and is equal to 17,000 cases (32 cases per 1,000 children), and among children aged 15-17 years, this figure is 60.6 per 1,000 adolescents. Additionally, since 2014, children from Donetsk and Luhansk regions have been receiving treatment at the institution.

Every year, more than 1,000 children (1,242 - 1,412 people in 2017-2019) receive inpatient treatment in the regional cardiorheumatology department. Cardiac arrhythmias and hypertension occupy a significant place among the diseases of the cardiovascular system in children and are among the pathologies that shape the general health of the adult population of Ukraine.

The funds raised will be used to purchase the Rhythm 200 ECG and blood pressure monitoring system, which provides daily blood pressure monitoring and allows to detect heart rhythm disorders, select therapy and perform early diagnosis of essential hypertension in children.
