Children's Hope: help to the Heart Institute 3
In November 2018, Kyivstar, together with the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, launched the Children's Hope project to help children with heart disease and cancer treated in Ukrainian hospitals. In April 2023, the Children's Hope project was expanded to include a new area of work - helping children with burns. Despite the war, the programme continues to operate and provide necessary medical equipment to Ukrainian hospitals.
In December 2023, the State Institution «Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine» will receive assistance under the Cardiology project.
The funds raised will be used to purchase:
- a BL70 phototherapy device for newborns,
- an Alduk IV O2 reducer, G3/4-DIN,
- a 512E adult reusable SpO2 sensor for the Patient Monitor (7 pcs.),
- a 518B reusable SpO2 sensor for newborns (9 pcs.),
- an IAT adapter cable for the Mindray resuscitation monitor (9 pcs.),
- IAT adapter cable for Mindray Resuscitation Monitor (9 pcs.),
- ECG cable 5-lead with extension cable and electrodes, for adults, Snap, defibrillation resistant (7 pcs.),
- ECG cable 5-channel, IEC, Snap for Mindray Patient Monitor (7 pcs.),
- Electrode + cable + ECG wires: 3-lead, for newborns, Clip, defibrillation-resistant, IEC (8 pcs).
The equipment will allow us to provide treatment to newborns and premature babies at a higher quality level.
The Heart Institute is a specialised scientific and clinical institution in cardiology, heart and great vessels surgery, X-ray diagnostics and transplantation. Every year, the medical institution performs more than 6,000 heart operations, including about 800 for congenital heart disease. The hospital provides consultative and outpatient care to more than 120,000 thousand Ukrainians.
The hospital has an intensive care unit for newborns and premature infants, where thousands of children with cardiovascular diseases are treated annually. The intensive care unit has 18 beds and provides round-the-clock care to young cardiac and cardiac surgery patients. Every year, the children's department performs 450 open-heart surgeries, more than 250 endovascular interventions and 15,000 echocardiograms.
