In November 2018, Kyivstar, together with the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, launched "Children's Hope" project to help children with heart disease and cancer treated in Ukrainian hospitals. Despite the war, the programme continues to operate and provide necessary medical equipment to Ukrainian hospitals. In the spring of 2023, the "Children's Hope" initiative will be expanded to include a new area of work - help for children with burns - to provide medical care to children with burns in Ukraine.
The Odesa Oblast Children's Clinical Hospital provides care to children from the city of Odesa, Odesa Oblast and surrounding areas. The Cardiovascular Surgery Department with an intensive care unit provides inpatient care for children with congenital heart disease and vascular anomalies, which continues to operate even despite the full-scale war. Every year, up to 200 children are newly diagnosed with congenital heart disease. During the year, about 150 children are treated, about 20 of whom are children weighing less than 1.5 kilograms and who also need surgical interventions.
The funds raised will be used to purchase modern medical equipment and instruments for the hospital's cardiovascular department, which will be used by doctors in the operating room:
- A device for patient heating (normothermia maintenance system). It helps to reduce the risk of complications, shorten the length of hospital stay and speed up the child's recovery after surgery.
- Specialized surgical instruments. Used during heart and great vessel surgeries in young patients.
- MultiMed 5 module. Accessories for anesthesia and respiratory equipment and patient monitors that ensure stable operation of the equipment and continuous monitoring of vital signs during surgery.
