Children's Hope: Help For Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery

In November 2018, Kyivstar, together with the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, launched the project "Children's Hope" to help children with heart and cancer diseases in Ukrainian hospitals.

In the framework of the project in the direction of Cardiology in December, 27 2019, the State Institution “Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” was received assistance.

Annually, tens of thousands of children from all over Ukraine have the opportunity to receive counseling, cardiology and cardiac surgery. The Center is the only medical facility in Ukraine where children with congenital heart defects are operated on from the first hours of life. Treatment is also provided for children from orphanages, socially disadvantaged children and internally displaced persons. All surgeries and examinations for Ukrainian children are free of charge.

In 2018, the Center consulted 37 379 patients, hospitalized - 5 091, performed operations - 3 144. The rate of postoperative mortality is 0.8% compared to 2-3% in the best Western European and American clinics. In terms of the number and complexity of operations performed last year, the Center ranks first in Europe among pediatric cardiac centers.

The funds raised was purchased for 2 Infusomat® Compact Plus BBraun Volumetric Infusion Pumps and their consumables, namely: Infusomat® plus Line PVC Injection Kit 240/150 cm (100 pcs).

This equipment will help children with heart disease at a better and more quantitative level.
