Children's hope: help ZUSDMTs. Onko 8
In November 2018, Kyivstar, together with the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, launched the Children's Hope project to help children with heart disease and cancer treated in Ukrainian hospitals. In April 2023, the Children's Hope project was expanded to include a new area of work - helping children with burns. Despite the war, the program continues to operate and provide necessary medical equipment to Ukrainian hospitals.
As part of the Oncology project, in December 2023, the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children's Medical Center, a municipal non-profit enterprise of the Lviv Regional Council, will receive assistance. The funds raised will be used to purchase cryobank equipment for the pediatric oncology clinic and TKM:
- Metal cassette for cryopackets 500 ml for Biosafe 240 l storage - 82 pcs;
- Multifunctional hand-held rolling machine - 2 pcs;
- Separation stand.
This equipment will be used in the cryobank for the collection of stem cells and their cryopreservation for the needs of patients at the pre- and post-transplantation stages of treatment.
After the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the hospital became a basic facility for the treatment and subsequent evacuation of patients with cancer, onco-haematological and orphan diseases. Since 24 February 2022, more than 1,500 patients with cancer at various stages of treatment have been hospitalised, stabilised and evacuated, and 46 patients remain in hospital.
