Child in a blind alley

Danya Podvinzev was only 2 months old, when his family was shocked with terrible news: the baby had blood cancer, one of it’s the most unfavourable type – myeloblastic leucosis. His young family was suddenly torn out from a wheel of happy cares and events, associated with the childbirth. The baby needs urgent bone marrow transplantation abroad – its cost is 120 000 Euro. This is a huge sum. Little hope to collect such a sum without us – people, who do not stay indifferent to Podvinzevs family trouble! Please! Help!

Mother was troubled, and doctors were perplexed by small spots on the baby body: nobody could explain the cause of this event. While in the hospital, Danya and his mother expected doctors’ verdict for ten days. The long-awaited answer was not only depressing, in few moments it ruined all the family happy and trouble-free life. The baby was urgently transferred into Oncohaematology Department, where the first chemotherapy course was initiated.

However, killer preparation doses, while eliminating cancer cells at the same time cause pathological immunity decrease. The boy developed pneumonia, at which treating leucosis meant killing the child. Doctors made the only possible decision – to fight with pneumonia, decreasing chemotherapy doses. The fight for Danya life continued for three months, there was already no hope for remission.

But the miracle happened! Notwithstanding insufficient preparation doses cancer cells growth was stopped. This was a miracle, not a victory. This was only a chance, which the boy received from apparently benevolent fate. At any moment cancer could attack the fragile child life with new force. Only one thing can stop the cancer – immediate bone marrow transplantation from non-related donor.

Unfortunately, in this case surgery in Ukraine is impossible, its cost in Italy – 120 000 Euro.

A huge sum. That particular ill-fated money amount stands between fragile, sweet, pure child and his possibility to survive. At present all family forces are aimed at finding this money. It is a little chance to collect such amount without help from other people, who would not stay indifferent to Podvinzevs family trouble. Help us at UBB to collect at least part of this sum.
