When Maksym's mother first held him in her arms, he was smaller than her palm – 1,300 grams of life. Doctors spoke of "time and patience" and promised that he would be able to walk, but waiting turned into a struggle.
After months of fruitless waiting, the family was hit with the truth – their child had a disability, cerebral palsy. It was painful and unfair, but his mother did not let this reality break them. An endless search for specialists, rehabilitation, and surgery began. In different cities and different centers, they tried to find a way for their son to move.
Two surgeries helped relax the muscles in his legs, but along with the improvements came new difficulties – the boy's back weakened, and one leg began to "collapse" inward. However, 12-year-old Maksym is not giving up. He can sit down on his own, stand with support, and pedal a tricycle. This boy is an example of great strength in a small body.
Maksym is a very intelligent, sensitive, and kind boy. He is fascinated by computer science, loves games, and wants to be like his peers. He tries hard to keep up at school, but his biggest dream is to learn to walk. "Even if only a little, but on my own", his mother's words are full of hope and pain at the same time.
Childhood and youth should not be spent with limitations. Now, while Maksym is growing up, every day matters – his muscles need active work, and his body responds to exercise and treatment. These are the last years when a real breakthrough can be achieved, and his mother does not want to waste this time.
The family has come a long and exhausting way, but they are not giving up. "We work, live, and enjoy every day as much as we can, but we really need help," says his mother. Their biggest dream is to see Maksym take his first confident steps.
Let's help make this miracle happen together – let's give the boy a chance to undergo rehabilitation, and thus a chance for movement, freedom, and a life without limits.
