Maksym was born at 25 weeks gestation weighing only 910 grams. He was one of twins, but unfortunately, his brother did not survive, and Maksym was destined to go through pain that is hard to imagine. He spent his first five months in the intensive care unit, where doctors fought for his every breath.
In his 12 years, Maksym has already undergone more than six brain surgeries. Rehabilitation, massages, drips, pain - all this has become his routine.
He has complex diagnoses: congenital brain defects, schizencephaly, hydrocephalus, epilepsy, moderate mental retardation. It would seem that this is a death sentence. But Maksym proves otherwise. Every three months, the boy undergoes rehabilitation. And every time his results amaze even experienced doctors.
Doctors call him a medical miracle. He is very diligent and persistent in following all the recommendations of the doctors to say a simple phrase: “I am healthy”. To live without pain, without daily trials. To just be a child.
Now the boy is studying in the fifth grade, he loves to sing, and he is very good at it. But his only dream is to be healthy. Because now his childhood is not carefree games with friends, but surgeries, rehabilitation, procedures.
This rehabilitation is his chance. Maksym's mother, a neonatologist, helps newborn babies every day, but it is financially unbearable for her to pay for rehabilitation. Every hryvnia, every repost, every support is not just help. It is a chance for a life that contains not only pain but also childish joy. This is a chance for a boy who has been proving for 12 years that even the impossible is possible!
