Only a step to the dream

I’ll be grateful for any help that will approach our family to the most desired aim –my ill son to feel a little better! My Stepanko was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth – it was a difficult delivery. In spite of regular physiotherapy we cannot overcome high muscle tone. We’ve got to know that in our case an orthopedic surgery may help. But the operation in Israeli hospital will cost near $40000. We don’t have this money. Help us, please!

My son has cerebral palsy though he could have been an absolutely healthy child but for a doctor’s fault in the process of his birth: navel string was winded round baby’s neck several times. Everything could have been different if I had had a C-section. But I was allowed to bear the baby myself. My baby was born in a deep asphyxia which led to serious negative consequences. 10 days in the resuscitation department. 3 weeks in the obstetrical pathology department. Stepanko has regular courses of rehabilitation since he was 2 months old. The boy visits the swimming pool every day. But all our efforts didn’t help us to overcome spasticity – muscle hypertonia which doesn’t allow the child to develop right and stand on his legs.

Stepanko is a very kind and smart child. He studies at school. Every year he receives honours for his study. He is interested in computers. He has many friends who often visit him. Stepan cannot move to another place by himself and communication is very important for him. This is the reason why all local kids spend their free time at our house. In summer they play in the yard, swim in the pool or just talk.

Recently I’ve found the information that spasticity is treated by means of a surgery in Israel. Having collected all the information about this method I’ve understood that it is the chance to save Stepanko we’ve been waiting for so long. Israeli neurosurgeon Liana Beni-Adani agrees to perform the operation. But such an operation will cost about $40000. We don’t have this sum because all our money is spent on regular child rehabilitation without which Stepan’s body can suffer from deformation.

Only the people indifferent to this problem is our only hope! I wish I could take my child by his hand and go for a walk, play with a ball or just watch him walking to his school! I’ll be grateful for any help that will approach our family to the most desired aim – my son to be at least partially restored to health!!
