Mykolaiv Regional Children's Clinical Hospital* provides 24-hour medical care to the children of Mykolaiv region. The hospital structure includes 12 inpatient departments and two intensive care units, including an intensive care unit for newborns. Every year, 15,000 children are treated in the hospital's inpatient departments and about 1,000 children are born. Now the specifics of the hospital's work have shifted not only to providing assistance to sick children, but also to providing emergency medical care to children with injuries caused by the war. Last year alone, about 1,500 affected children from Mykolaiv and Kherson regions received the necessary medical care here.
As part of the project, we have already managed to purchase and transfer to the hospital important diagnostic equipment for detecting hearing impairments in children and their causes, namely an audiometer and a tympanometer (impedance audiometer), but there is still a need for an electroencephalograph, so the collection continues.
On average, 150-180 children per month undergo electroencephalography (EEG), including newborns. Currently, the facility needs to be updated, as the existing devices are outdated and do not meet today's technical capabilities.
Electroencephalography (EEG) is the main method for studying brain function. It allows you to detect changes in brain function in various neurological disorders, the consequences of birth injuries, hypoxia, etc. In fact, EEG is a reflection of brain function. With the help of this device, children are diagnosed with such diseases and syndromes as autism, sleep disorders, autonomic dysfunction, Down syndrome, infectious diseases of the brain, mental retardation, epilepsy, and much more. The earlier these diseases are diagnosed, the more effective the treatment will be and the higher the child's chances for full development.
Your contribution will help provide children with quality medical care, which, in turn, is the key to a full and healthy life for the child.
