Help for the children of Mykolaiv

Medical specialists of the Mykolaiv Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital provide round-the-clock care to children from across the region every day — including those whose lives have been affected by the war. The hospital is a key pediatric institution in the region. Its structure includes 15 departments, where approximately 15,000 children receive treatment each year.

An important component is the region’s only centralized neonatal unit, with a capacity of 50 beds. Each year, around 1,000 newborns receive the specialized care they need here. The unit has implemented modern neonatal technologies, including neuromonitoring, which enables precise assessment of brain function from the very first days of a child’s life.

Thanks to joint efforts, we have already managed to equip the hospital with modern hearing diagnostic equipment. However, the need to upgrade medical equipment remains urgent. Currently, the hospital has a critical need for an electroencephalograph.

Every month, 150–180 children undergo examinations using this device, including newborns. The existing equipment is outdated and does not provide the required level of accuracy, which directly affects the quality of diagnostics.

Electroencephalography is a key method for assessing the functional activity of the brain. It enables timely detection of neurological disorders, consequences of hypoxia and birth injuries, epilepsy, developmental delays, sleep disorders, and other conditions. 

Early diagnosis is about the future: about first steps, first words, and first dreams. And today, that future depends on all of us.
