All premature babies are real Superheroes, because they fight for their lives every day: they learn to breathe, keep the temperature, eat, gain weight. But even Superheroes sometimes need help in the form of expensive modern equipment.

Often, premature birth is accompanied by pathological jaundice - a condition in which the level of one of the body's metabolites increases significantly and begins to harm the baby. In case of untimely diagnosis and insufficient treatment, it is impossible to correct it, which leads to the development of bilirubin encephalopathy.

To address the question of the tactics of treatment of jaundice requires appropriate diagnosis – blood sampling of the newborn or transcutaneous determination of bilirubin in the blood. But venous blood sampling is accompanied by a puncture of fragile and overly sensitive skin and a tiny vein, which is very painful.

Non-invasive transcutaneous method of measuring bilirubin levels provides a significant reduction in stress, pain in newborns, which inextricably accompanies them during venous blood collection to determine the level of total bilirubin by the invasive method. But for the application of this method you need a suitable device-bilirubinometer, which is not available in all medical institutions of Ukraine. We want to buy one in the Chernivtsi Regional Perinatal Center.
