Ternopil Regional Children's Clinical Hospital is a leading specialized institution that provides multidisciplinary medical care to children in the region. In 2000, a neonatal center was established to help sick newborns. It includes a department for premature newborns, a pediatric department for newborns, a department of neonatal intensive care with a visiting neonatology team. Up to 700 sick newborns are treated annually at the RCCH neonatal center, and more than 250 of them are transported by a visiting neonatology team in the first hours after birth.

Currently, there is only one phototherapy lamp in the entire neonatal center, which does not provide all the babies with the necessary help in the treatment of jaundice, which is manifested by yellowing of the skin and mucous membranes – means increased bilirubin in the blood. Phototherapy is a physiotherapeutic method of treatment based on the effect of ultraviolet radiation on the skin. Bilirubin under the influence of light waves is converted into harmless compounds that are naturally excreted from the body of the child. The cost of one phototherapy lamp is 27 214 UAH and it is essential for the treatment of babies.

Let's hurry to help babies who have been born prematurely!
