We continue to raise money for the Fund`s wards who have the orphan (rare) disease – cystic fibrosis, in order to provide them with high-quality inhalators. Orphan diseases are congenital or acquired diseases that occur less than 1 case per 2000 population, progress chronically, reduce significantly the quality of life and shorten its duration unless a complex treatment is applied. According to statistics, 80% of orphan patients are children.

The cystic fibrosis affects primarily the lungs, its treatment is lifelong and expensive. Medical inhalations are needed every day, several times, and it`s possible only with powerful inhalation devices. Ordinary devices are not designed for such intensive use. Skipping inhalations due to a malfunctioning inhalator is a threat of suffocating and hospitalization. This scares not only the parents of sick children, but also the children themselves, who literally cannot breathe through the mucus in the lungs.

It is completely impossible to recover from cystic fibrosis, but it is possible to improve the quality of life and increase its duration. Unfortunately, the government provides these patients only with certain medicaments and does not cover their expenses for other critical treatment needs.

The purchase of inhalators, their repair or replacement, the obligatory periodic replacement of consumables - all this falls on the shoulders of the families of such patients, who have to spend additionally a lot of money on the necessary dietary food and treatment of concomitant diseases.

The raised funds will be used to purchase PARI inhalators with an additional set of filters for twenty Fund`s wards - children and adults with cystic fibrosis.
