Phototherapy Lamp against the irreversible influence the icterus in newborns!
The Children's City Clinical Hospital № 1 has Neonatal pathology unit, where every day, unfortunately, preterm babies get to, and 80% of them are diagnosed with icterus. The icterus is the congestion of toxic substances of bilirubin in the blood and its accretion in tissues with staining in yellow color of the skin, mucous membranes or eyes.
This desease requires an active treatment, otherwise increased bilirubin causes brain pathology or renal failure, as a result, it can lead not only to a child's disability, but even for death.
The most widespread and effective way of icterus treatment in newborns is a light therapy with the help of Phototherapy Lamp. During irradiation of newborns with these lamps, bilirubin is transformed into non-toxic products of metabolism. The procedure is completely innocuous and extremely necessary, because it is a way to deduce toxic substances from the blood of child and save him.
In the Neonatal pathology unit are always 20-30 kids, so they sorely need Phototherapy Lamp. And we can give a chance to kids to survive and not become disabled.
The main goal of our project is to buy a Phototherapy Lamp for Neonatal pathology unit of Children's City Clinical Hospital № 1. Let's save the little patients from toxic damage by bilirubin!
