Romchyk was born far too early and extremely fragile – his weight was only 1,140 grams. He spent the first three months of his life in the intensive care unit, surrounded by medical equipment and doctors who were literally fighting for every breath he took. The baby learned to feed independently only through a special bottle, while spasticity constrained his body so severely that he seemed like a tightly stretched string. At the age of one and a half, his parents were confronted with a devastating diagnosis: cerebral palsy, double hemiplegia, developmental and speech delay, and epilepsy.
Despite these challenges, Roman gradually learned to overcome his limitations. At the age of four and a half, he underwent complex surgery due to a hip dislocation. Since then, his parents have been doing everything possible to ensure that each day brings him a small step forward — both at home and in rehabilitation centers
The first course of treatment, made possible thanks to the generosity of caring people, provided Roman with a real breakthrough. Massage therapy helped relieve severe muscle tension, making his body more relaxed and mobile. Sessions with a speech therapist and psychologist improved his attention, fine motor skills, and even communication – the boy began to express his thoughts more clearly. He also became more focused and receptive to new exercises, and genuine curiosity about the world appeared. For his mother, these changes are priceless, as they prove that the efforts are not in vain and that the treatment truly makes a difference.
However, Roman’s path is still long. In order not to lose the progress already achieved and to continue developing further, he urgently requires new rehabilitation courses: massage therapy, physiotherapy, and regular sessions with a speech therapist and psychologist. Without systematic support, his body quickly returns to a tense state, and every new skill needs constant reinforcement.
Today, Roman and his family are once again reaching out for support. Only through the joint efforts of compassionate people does this boy have the chance to take further important steps towards his development, greater freedom of movement, and new discoveries.
