Let's help a veteran with a triple amputation
As a result of the fighting, Oleksandr suffered amputation of 3 limbs and now needs a modern wheelchair that will bring movement back into his life.
Four years ago, Oleksandr worked abroad and earned enough money to provide for his family. However, the situation in eastern Ukraine forced him to return home and join the military, as he wanted a happy future in a free and independent Ukraine for his wife and children.
The decision to join the military was a well-considered one. However, his family didn't even know that Oleksandr was determined to join the Armed Forces. Therefore, after returning to Ukraine, the man simply went to the military enlistment office, passed the commission and signed a contract. Oleksandr received his first contusion, which caused him to lose his hearing, on December 3. But after being treated, he returned to his comrades in arms to stop the Russian barbarians who were tearing Ukraine apart.
On March 27, 2023, the man was seriously wounded near the Berestove village, Donetsk region. On that day, Oleksandr and his comrades went to help the unit, which was surrounded by the enemy. The guys were running out of ammunition, almost all of them were wounded, and the enemy was approaching. Therefore, Oleksandr and his comrades made a desperate raid, but the occupiers did not plan to surrender either, and Oleksandr received severe injuries to his arms and legs in the battle.
His comrades on the spot applied casts to his three limbs. Due to constant mortar and artillery shelling, it was not possible to immediately evacuate the wounded. Oleksandr received primary medical care only a few hours later in Sloviansk, after which he was sent to Mechnikov Hospital in Dnipro, where his limbs were amputated.
On April 3, 2023, Oleksandr was transported by helicopter to Kyiv Hospital. For more than a month, the man was in a medically induced coma, regained consciousness in early May and saw the consequences of his injury. He was in pain, despair, bitterness and sadness.
The man spent four months in intensive care: he suffered two cardiac arrests, a stroke, and his kidneys were not working. Unfortunately, most civilian medical facilities did not dare to treat him. They said that people with such a course of the disease and a complex injury simply do not survive. But his loving wife Olya was by his side all the time. She believed in miracles and the power of love.
The next step is to purchase a Meyra iChair MC2 wheelchair, which will help Oleksandr feel independent and mobile not only indoors.
This model has a stronger cross-country ability, increased speed, and a longer range. The pneumatics of the wheelchair allow it to move comfortably and conveniently on uneven surfaces and overcome small obstacles. It's safe (it won't roll over), so you don't need a person to keep you safe while driving.
And most importantly, Meyra iChair MC2 allows for head and joystick control. The joystick control will be useful after the prosthetics of the upper limbs.
Now Oleksandr needs our support, so don't be indifferent!
