Help me to perform miracles

For the last 5 years, Caritas supports the initiative of parents of children with special needs who do not want their sons and daughters to be closed in the four walls, to be hostages of problems and troubles. We help them find their niche in which they can express themselves, discover their talents and generally feel themselves as full members of our society.

Children and young people with great pleasure work in the workshops organized at the Caritas, Training - Rehabilitation Centre “Dovirja”(Trust), NGO “Otynia Hope”. They like to paint, sculpt, and sew. Children are open to accept new: with great pleasure master the techniques of working with quilling, origami, and decoupage. Their hands produce fantastic products - greeting cards, bead’s gifts, decorated frames and many other things. The quality of the children’s work is so high that the ordinary person will never guess that they were handmade by disabled children.

Creativity therapy not only helps the child - invalid see the world, but is also a part of rehabilitation and adaptation in this cruel world. By choosing different activities, we try to reach out to everyone, to help to open up in the direction to which the child has a talent. Together we are making small steps the result of which sometimes is so significant that no other medical therapy, sessions with a psychologist do not give such a result. Thanks to the teamwork and communication children change greatly: they feel more confident in public transport and shops. Creativity classes contribute to the development of speech, learn to control their bodies, children develop their attention and imagination.

This project will help purchase materials and equipment for group work (design paper, glue rods, figure composters, corner punch, materials for decoupage (paints, varnishes, designer napkins, brushes, acrylic paints, frames), set for quilling, machine for figure stamping, embossing folders, glue gun) that contribute to the development of skills and knowledge of labour adaptation. Along with the training we will help to achieve another important function - social and psychological rehabilitation, as the experience shows, works and art are the therapy for children and youth with special needs. With the help of art children who were hostages of “four walls” find a niche in which they develop themselves, renew themselves and become proper members of society.

Parents of Caritas friends know well that there is nothing more precious in this world than a child's health. It cannot be bought for any money, so if a family has trouble, it is necessary to have courage and patience and focus their efforts on the way how to give your child as much social skills as possible. We ask all people to help children and young people with special needs to feel themselves like valuable members of our society. Each of our contribution to their needs will help them gain confidence in themselves!
