When Iryna was told she was pregnant, it felt like a true miracle — for years, doctors had convinced her that motherhood was out of reach. But the joy quickly turned into pain. The delivery was extremely difficult — the water had been gone for over 10 hours, leading to severe hypoxia in the baby. Additionally, an injury to the cervical spine damaged the blood vessels and nerves that supply the brain. From the very beginning, little Andriy’s life was filled with pain. In his first days, he barely slept or ate, constantly crying in distress. His development was disrupted: he didn’t respond to the world around him, couldn’t understand simple words, and didn’t try to speak. His father couldn’t handle it and left. Iryna was advised more than once to place her son in an orphanage.

But she didn’t give up. She fought every single day. Thanks to constant therapy, rehabilitation, and support from kind-hearted people, her son achieved what once seemed impossible. Today, Andriy attends a regular school and studies under an inclusive program. At first glance, he looks like an ordinary boy — but inside, he’s constantly battling to understand the world. Andriy often mimics the behavior of other children but doesn’t grasp the meaning of their actions. He struggles to express emotions and navigate situations that other kids find easy. Even basic needs, like going to the toilet, are challenging for him. He can’t play group games — he doesn’t understand the rules. When he gets anxious, his speech becomes a stream of disconnected words rather than a clear expression of what he feels. This pushes him further away from his peers, causing him pain and loneliness.

Now more than ever, Andriy needs help. Ongoing treatment gives him a chance to make sense of the world. He also requires daily hygiene supplies. Iryna is raising her son alone. All her energy goes toward fighting for his health, but she can’t do it without support. Our foundation aims to provide Andriy with everything he needs for the coming year. Every contribution — no matter the size — is an investment in this child’s future. Let’s help Andriy live, feel, understand, and become a part of this world!
