"Hi! My name is Viktoria. I am 17 years old. Almost a year and a half ago I was diagnosed with aplastic anemia and since then the hospital became my home. My bone marrow refuses to work and produces blood cells, that is why I only survive on expensive medications and donated blood. I receive donated blood weekly, and sometimes several times a week. And every time donated blood is checked on the outdated equipment (which, to be honest, is much older than me) in the blood transfusion station.

In order to receive a quality care, so that the blood of donors helps me, not harms me, our blood transfusion station is needed a hemoglobin analyzer machine DiaSpect T LOW. This machine will work for the needs of whole region and will help not only me, but also hundreds of other patients with oncological, hematological problems, patients on surgery tables, in the maternity hospitals and any other hospital in the city and region".

Why is such a check necessary? The analyzer checks the red cell mass of blood, which is nearing its expiration date. It happens that the terms of donor blood are still "suitable", but the hemoglobin in it has already been destroyed, and there will be no benefit from such a transfusion. And in order not to harm patients, but at the same time not to dispose of the blood that is in stock and can save someone's life, such a check is needed.

The regional transfusion station today provides up to 80% of the need for donated blood for medical institutions in the Kirovograd region. However, the analyzer that now tests blood is still manufactured in 1993, its warranty period has long expired. Thanks to the analyzer, which we are planning to purchase, they will check donated blood from hospitals in Kropyvnytskyi and the region.
