Help Blind Diabetics

These people are unlucky twice. The aim of our project is to purchase the Sensolite Nova Plus glucometers and test strips for them for residents of Lviv and Lviv region who are suffering from diabetes mellitus type I (insulin-dependent) and lost sight as a result of its complications, and also have a complex other concomitant complication.

Given the need for constant monitoring of the level of sugar, such people fall into total dependence on sighted relatives or friends, it is by no means always possible and timely. In this situation, the only way out for a blind patient with diabetes mellitus is a sounded glucometer: it is the voice accompaniment function of all the operations performed during the determination of the blood sugar level that relieves a blind person from outside help. In addition, the sounded glucometer allows you to quickly determine the cause of sudden deterioration of the patient's condition, in time preventing critical situations.

The financial costs of treating people with diabetes mellitus due to loss of vision and other irreversible complications (nephropathy, polyneuropathy, lower extremity angiopathy complicated by gangrene, etc.) are fantastically high. The sounded glucometer and, especially, the test strips for it, often become an overwhelming luxury for most such patients. First of all, such patients purchase drugs that allow them to support basic life processes. That's why we strive to help such patients in their provision with sounded glucometers and test strips.

As of 01.03.2018, 14 sounded glucometers and 29 packs of test strips were purchased for a total of UAH 10,034, which were transferred to patients according to the information. Now the site UBB collected 11 076 UAH for the purchase of new glucometers and test strips. Collect the means of indifferent people who realize the real situation of those who are helped. We appeal to all who are not indifferent to intensify the fundraising in order to quickly purchase a new batch of glucometers, and most importantly, test strips, which are consumables and are consumed fairly quickly, depending on the severity of the patient.
