On January 18, 2014 a dramatic car accident occurred. Alexander survived in it by miracle. Sasha had serious concomitant injury: severe third-degree craniocerebral injury, skull base and vault fractures, acute subdural hematoma in the left hemisphere, cerebral edema. There were multiple rib and scapular fractures, lung contusion. Alexander slipped into a deep coma at the place of accident. He spent forty days in the intensive care unit and was breathing only with the help of invasive ventilation. He underwent two difficult brain surgeries with a titanium plate implantation.

In spite of unfavorable prognoses, there had been some signs of amelioration by the end of February – he started breathing on his own and opening his eyes little by little. Doctors did their best but Sasha remained completely paralyzed. He looked like a stack of bones. On February 28, Sasha was moved to the intensive care unit of Mechnikov Regional Clinical Hospital in Dnipropetrovsk, where he continued his treatment and doctors confirmed his gradual coming to consciousness.

Alexander is a talented electronic engineer. He constructed a cinema projector and a quadcopter, with the help of which he filmed a bird’s eye view of our city. Sasha has a CHANCE to recover and regain lost functions of his organism. He has to learn completely everything from the start: how to walk, speak, read and write. In order to succeed, it is necessary to undergo multiple courses of intensive rehabilitation: special physical training, massage, Kinesiotherapy, electrical stimulation, recreation therapy sessions, language, speech and aphasia therapy sessions, pharmaceutical treatment, sessions on special exercisers, treatment in clinical resorts and this list is far from being complete.

Due to constant training and rehabilitation, Alexander learns how to live in full measure, as everybody else! For the recent months Sacha has succeeded a lot, he has learned how to eat usual food, he can sit better now, he tries to use his left hand, he can take or give an object on demand; and sensitivity of his right side has been recovering little by little. He tries to rise by himself holding on to us. And we are not going to be satisfied with what has already been achieved!!! Something that he used to be able to do is now really difficult for him. But he is fighting for that!!!

We have no other way but to ask you for help! Please, be so kind to help Sasha achieve his goal!!!

Let's help him live a productive life!!!
