News February 2025

Sofiika Tarasenko is in great need of our help. The girl's father recently died, and the family was left without support.

Sonia has atypical autism and motor disorders. She desperately needs to undergo an in-depth genetic examination to find the cause of her developmental delay, lack of speech, and spontaneous muscle contractions (twitching).

The parents had been dreaming of a daughter for 15 years. When the baby was born, their happiness knew no bounds. But on the third day, the baby suddenly stopped breathing and started having convulsions. Sonia spent two days in the intensive care unit under a ventilator, and then another two months in the neurological department.

Sofia's development was delayed: she started sitting up at 10 months and walking at 2 years and 3 months. The girl has partial atrophy of the optic nerves, but due to the lack of speech (she communicates with gestures), it is impossible to check her visual acuity.

Doctors suspect that the girl has a genetic disease, possibly Angelman syndrome. Irina really wants to understand what is happening to the child and how to help her. To do this, Sonia needs to undergo an in-depth genetic examination at the Vitalab laboratory in Dnipro.

Sofia's mother is asking us for help in raising funds to pay for advanced tests that will help detect a rare gene mutation. Dear friends, please, let's support Sonia together!
