Help save the eyes of war victims!

Our people are experiencing how cruel and ruthless the war is, how it takes away the most valuable thing – our loved ones, health… Fortunately, something can be restored… Kyiv Eye Microsurgery Center today is actively helping people and soldiers affected by the war.

Unfortunately, the Center does not have sufficient funding to provide assistance to the number of patients currently admitted.

With the funds raised thanks to this project, we plan to purchase more than 450 units of medical equipment and consumables that will help carry out the necessary operations for people whose eyes have been damaged by explosions and shelling. On average, this will be enough for 20-30 patients. It should be noted that during the period of active hostilities, 24 patients with eye injuries were admitted to the Center.

One such device is, for example, a set for victrectomy. Vitrectomy is a surgical operation in which the anatomical conformity of intraocular structures is restored with the help of special equipment, optical devices and instruments. In the first stage of the operation, the vitreous body that fills the cavity of the eyeball is removed. Next, retinal problems are eliminated, blood, membranes and scar tissue are removed, special perfluoroorganic compounds, which by their specific weight are heavier than water, exfoliated retina adheres to its place, laser coagulation of the retina is performed. To perform these manipulations, the surgeon uses a special microscope, lenses and fiber-optic light source (optical fibers) to illuminate the eyeball from the inside.

The Eye Microsurgery Center in Kyiv is the main institution of the country, which provides effective treatment of eye diseases, and many scientific studies are conducted on its basis. Professionals work there, and we must do everything to provide this institution with the necessary materials for the treatment of our citizens.
