Nadezhda Grigorievna cannot see, Andrei has medullary thyroid cancer with metastases in his spine. Since 2012, the young man has undergone 4 operations (thyroidectomy, removal of lymph nodes, two operations to remove the adrenals). In 2016, metastatic lesions of the spine with a neoplasm in the lower lumbar vertebrae were found. At that time, their size was insignificant and surgical treatment was not prescribed. 

However, the last MRI in February this year showed an expansive growth of the tumor and its significant increase in size.

The danger is that further growth may cause a tumor to adhere to the spinal cord, which means a paralysis of the whole body. For Andrei radiosurgery on the CyberKnife system was prescribed, it is the most effective treatment of tumors located in hard-to-reach places with the size of 20 to 30 mm. At the present time, the size of Andrei‘s tumor is 2x2.2x1.6 cm. In other words, the tumor should be removed until it reaches 3cm, which can happen quite quickly, if it grows intensively. For a family, where both members are disabled and live on a disability allowance, this amount is simply impossible to collect. Considerable funds of family are spent on treatment. After the removal of the thyroid gland, Andrei undergoes lifelong hormone replacement therapy, i.e. he constantly takes the thyroxine hormone and many other drugs. His mother also needs constant eye therapy. All this requires a lot of money, so the family asks for help to collect money for the surgery for Andrei, while he has time, to give the young man a chance to avoid complete paralysis.
