Behind the medical terminology lies daily pain: little Anastasia has spastic quadriplegia and level 4 motor impairment. This is the most severe condition of the musculoskeletal system. Organic brain damage has locked the body of this 8-year-old girl in a painful shell of constant spasms. Nastia's muscles are pulled taut like strings, making even a single movement impossible, while her arms and legs do not respond at all. Level 4 means the child cannot walk, stand, or even sit independently without special supports and fixators. Without proper professional intervention, this severe spasticity will inevitably lead to joint deformities and spinal curvature. Nastusia's eyes silently plead for help, as every movement requires incredible effort.
And it all began with great hope that was cut short even before birth. The final months of pregnancy turned into a fierce battle for survival due to a serious complication – the mother's blood pressure rose critically, seizures occurred, posing a direct threat to both their lives. Anastasia rushed into the world prematurely – at 32 weeks, weighing just 1,530 grams, in a state of severe hypoxia. The situation was further complicated by an intrauterine infection and a devastating blow – a stroke suffered in the womb. The girl's nervous system sustained severe damage, causing early development to fall significantly behind from the very start. Instead of a cradle, hospital wards became the baby's first home. The diagnosis of cerebral palsy and severe tetraparesis sounded like a verdict. Nastia was assigned the most complex disability category – subgroup A, meaning complete dependence on outside assistance.
The war forced the family to leave their home, and they received internally displaced person status in Truskavets. It is here that the Kozyavkin International Rehabilitation Clinic is located, which gives Anastasia a chance to ease her condition. Every six months, the girl vitally needs to undergo a course of neurophysiological rehabilitation to break the cycle of spasticity and reduce pain. However, the cost of treatment is completely beyond reach. Her courageous mother carries the fate of the family on her own shoulders: she raises two daughters and cares for an elderly grandfather who is 88 years old. She works half-time and receives a disability pension – this money barely covers the cost of living. Paying the enormous bill is beyond her means. The mother is pleading for mercy on the dobro.ua platform. Please help raise the funds and give Nastusia a chance at a life without pain!
