Project implementation report

The new electrodermatome, a device for surgeries and rescue of children with burns, for which funds were raised across the country, is already in Lviv! And it is already helping to save patients of the only children's burn unit in the western regions of Ukraine, which operates at St. Nicholas Children's Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv.

The electrodermatome is a critically important piece of equipment for treating severe burn injuries. The device is used during skin grafting surgeries, and no such operation is possible without it.

Due to the war and the growing number of patients, the equipment available at St. Nicholas Children's Hospital could no longer withstand the load and had reached the end of its useful life. And the cost of the new device together with its components is almost one million hryvnias. So the doctors turned to philanthropists for help.

The Ukrainian Educational Platform launched an urgent collection for electrodermatomics on Children's Day. Lviv schoolchildren were the first to support it with the Steel Heart Challenge dance flash mob. The cheerleaders of the Lviv Angels club came up with this dance to the song of the same name by TVORCHI and collected the first significant contribution. Children and adults repeated the moves and called on social media to join the collection, which was also supported by Father Roman Demush, the URURU Amusement Park and representatives of other socially responsible businesses.

When half of the required amount, half a million hryvnias, was raised, the dobro.ua charity platform picked up the collection for the electrodermatome and hundreds of other concerned Ukrainians joined in. Together, they raised the necessary 999,097 hryvnias! The new device is already in the hospital and is helping our combustiologists save children with burns.

We thank everyone who contributed for your ‘Hearts of Steel’. Thanks to your donation, hundreds of lives of little Ukrainians will be saved.
